4. DEWA Directory of Members
DEWA is having 5000 members plus and these members mostly belong to NCR Delhi and
also from various states . DEWA members are working in the Govt./non-Govt.
offices/organization situated in NCR Delhi and also in the states.
DEWA has got printed the Directory (from 1st editions to 6th editions) of its members.
Sixth Edition of ‘DEWA Directory’ was brought out in December, 2014 . In the DEWA Directory,
the details of its each member viz., Name of the member , residential address , Designation ,
address of his/her office/organization and contact nos. (residence/personal and office ) have
been printed . DEWA Directory itself shows the unity among the community members and also an
excellent introduction of our Association (DEWA). On having the DEWA Directory, the concerned
people from our community and also from other communities, use to praise our association as it
gives good impression on them. The ‘Sixth Edition of DEWA Directory’ was brought out at accost
of Ra. 1.75 lakh. Therefore, DEWA has decided that in lieu of printing New DEWA Directory
(next edition) , we should get typed the details of new members, who took the membership of
DEWA between November, 2014 & September, 2021 and it may be named as ‘Mini Directory of DEWA’
(7th Edition). In addition to it , DEWA has also decided that ‘Sixth Edition of DEWA Directory’
and ‘Mini Directory of DEWA’ (7th Edition) maybe got scanned and uploaded in the proposed
‘DEWA website’ (dewa.org.in), which is to be launched/hosted shortly. After uploading the DEWA
Directory on its website, it will help to our community members for getting the details of
residential/office address and contact no’s etc from the DEWA website itself.
The benefits out of DEWA Directory can’t be assessed in terms of money. If our community
members are having any problem or work from any Govt /Non-Govt. office, then they can take
the contact no(s) of DEWA members (who is working there) and can take/get help from him/her.
DEWA Executive Committee Members often receive the calls from our community persons, who use
to ask as to whether any person is working in a particular department/office as he/she has some
work or matter pertaining to that department/office. This is also one of the main reasons for
taking the membership of DEWA by our community persons (who are employees of the Govt./Non-Govt.
departments/organizations etc.).
5. Activities of DEWA
Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of DEWA is organized every year on 2nd October and it is the
fixed date for this purpose. In the AGM, (i) ‘Financial Statements of DEWA and Activity Reports
of DEWA for the previous year (i.e. 1st October to 30th September)’, (ii) ‘Minutes of
the last AGM’ are placed before the AGM by the Secretary General for its approval /confirmation.
The Financial Statements and Activity Reports of DEWA are read & explained by the
Secretary General and proper approvals of the AGM is obtained. Similarly, the ‘Minutes
of the last year’s AGM’ is also confirmed by the AGM. It is pertinent to mention that the
Financial Statements of DEWA is always very transparent and no chance left to raise the
fingers by any of the honorable members. It is also put on records that Patrons, EC Members
and other Members of DEWA have always extended donations for organizing special events and
also for Mementos/prizes to meritorious students.
(A) Monetary help to the Students of Poor families of our Community
DEWA has collected donations from its members and community people for providing the
‘monetary help to the Students of Poor families of our Community’ who are studying from class
1 to 10 only with the aim that they do not dropout before 10th class. While collecting the
donations for the said purpose, DEWA has opened a Sub-head: ‘Benevolent Fund of DEWA’ for the
Students of poor families in its Accounts and ‘monetary help etc. to thestudents is debited
to the same head. During the last three years (leaving the Corona Pandemic periods),
Executive Committee of DEWA has identified various students (from poor families) and
organized the educational workshops (by inviting the students and their families) . In the
said workshops our Executive members use to guide and advise them (Students and their
parents/guardians) so that they could be encouraged towards their studies to become Civil
and Defence officers/officials, Doctors/Engineers/CAs/ Architects etc. At the end of said
workshop, the monetary help is disbursed to the identified students of the community’s poor
families. In the Past and before starting the said monetary help, DEWA used to provide school’s
bags, School books, dictionaries and encyclopedia etc to the meritorious students and also to
the students of the poor families. This is a small effort being made by DEWA to help the poor
families towards the education of their wards. It is also informed that in the DEWA AGM held on
2nd October, 2019 , it has been decided that DEWA will also extend “Kanya Dan” to the Girls of
the Community’s poor families from the same Head “ Benevolent Fund of DEWA’ .
(B) DEWA Annual Family Get-together
‘Annual Family Get-together’ is organized by DEWA every year on 25th December
(from 11 am to 4 pm) and this is the fixed date & time for its ‘Annual Family Get-together’
(Varshik Pariwarik Milan Samroh). In this Annual Family Get-together’ , more than 1200 persons
i.e. males, females & children of the DEWA families use to participate . In this Samaroh, first
of all , the President of DEWA welcomes and greets to all the participants of DEWA families.

individual person gives his/her introductions one by one and also wish the Happy Christmas and
Happy New Year (in advance) to all participants. While giving introductions, some families also
give the introductions of their marriageable son’s and daughter’s. Accordingly, after
introductions, the interested parents also get the golden chance to select the match of their
marriageable wards (sons /daughters) by exchanging their biodata and photo etc. Before,
serving lunch to the family members, the various sport’s & cultural events are being organized
by the Cultural Secretary of DEWA for the for children and ladies . The Rassakasi is also
organized for male and female adults. The family members (specially children and ladies) use
to enjoy the sport and cultural & sport events. After concluding these sport’s events , the
Cultural Secretary submits the results of each events ( 1st, 2nd & 3rd ) to the Secretary
General .
In this Samaroh, President and Secretary General also collects the copies of ‘Mark Sheets’
from the ‘Meritorious Students or from their parents’ , who had secured 70 % marks & above
in the Class 10th and 12th Board Exams during the Calendar Year. These Meritorious Students
are awarded with suitable prize (in kind) and with a beautiful ‘DEWA Memento’ as token of honor
and respect to encourage them. With this program, the other students of the community also
prompted and encouraged to secure the good marks ( 70 % and above) in the future .
While having the lunch by all family members (by sitting on the Dories) , we feel the
happy and social unity & equality among our community members , which can’t be imagined
anywhere else .
After Lunch, as per the results of the sport’s & Cultural events, the suitable prizes are got distributed through Sr. Members of Executive Committee & respected special guests etc.
In the ‘Annual Family Get-together’, the hand bills pertaining to “Dahej -Virodhi’ and “ Nasha-Bandi’ also distributed among the participants to eradicate these evils from our Community & Society.
Thus, it can be seen that by organizing the said ‘DEWA Annual Family Get-together’, we try to :
• promote co-operation, co-ordination and brotherhood among the members of the Community.
• address/eradicate the social evils prevailing in the community by persuation, mutual understanding and social means.
• By extending prize and memento to the meritorious students, we address the educational and economical upliftment of the community people.
• To create unity, equality and awareness among the DEWA family members , which is also a main objective of the Association.
(C) ‘DEWA Free Matrimonial Service’and ‘DEWA Yuvak-Yuvati Parichay Sammelan’
On experienced by DEWA Executive Committee that some upper middle class and higher class of
families of our community often don’t mix with general people and middle/lower class families
of our community. As a result there of and as and when their wards (sons & daughters) become
marriageable, then they use to contact DEWA and other community’s Sanstha/Associations to get
the suitable match for their wards in the community itself. Besides, now a days, it is a great
job for normal people, who do not have time to keep relations with community’s
Associations/ Sanstha etc. Keeping in view the aforesaid situations, DEWA has decided
(since 2009-10 onwards) to organize the grand “DEWA Yuvak-Yuvati Parichay Sammelan” almost
every year in the reputed ‘Auditorium’ of Central Delhi (barring Corona Periods) barring the
Corona Pandemic years (2020-22) . With this efforts of DEWA , people of our community are getting
easily the suitable match for their sons & daughters easily. Moreover, we have noticed that inter-caste marriage also has been decreased.
In addition to this, DEWA has been providing ‘Free Matrimonial Service’ to Community People on
‘1st Sunday’ (from 4pm to 6 pm) of every month at ‘Shiv Mandir , Rafi Marg (Behind VP House)’,
New Delhi-110001 (near to Patel Chowk Metro Station) . Most of the people of our Community are
benefitted with above ‘Free Matrimonial service of DEWA’ and often use to praise the said efforts
& services from DEWA.
(D) ‘DEWA Samjhota Samiti’
DEWA has Constituted a Committee (Samiti) named : ‘DEWA Samjhota Samiti’ . DEWA has noticed that sometimes due to unfortunate situations, ‘post martial disputes’ also happened with in families of our community. If both parties of ‘Bride & Groom’ approach the ‘DEWA Samjhota Samiti’ , then only Members of this Samiti use to arrange the meeting between both parties and try to resolve their disputes amicably in the presence of the authorized representatives of both parties and thus, unnecessary disputes /fights and court cases etc between both sides are avoided .
(E) ‘DEWA Holi Milan Samaroh’
Every year DEWA has been organizing ‘Holi Milan Samaroh’ alongwith DPDM at our Community’s Temple : ‘Shiv Mandir’ (behind VP House), Rafi Marg, New Delhi-110001. In the Holi Milan Samaroh, all members/participants use to celebrate Holi with gulal/abeer and by hugging and wishing (Holi ki Shubh Kamnayen) to each other. With this ‘ Holi Milan Samaroh’ DEWA achieves its one of the main objectives : i.e. ‘Brotherhood (Bhai-Chara) with in our community people’. In the end of the Samroh, all participants are served Gujhia , Pakode, Tea & cold drinks . Thus, all Members/participants enjoy Holi Milan Samroh in a jolly & delectable mood.
(F) ‘Sant Gadge Jayanti and Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti’
DEWA use to celebrate the ‘Sant Gadge Jayanti’ (alongwith other Association/Sanstha of our Community) on 23rd February every year . In 2019 , we have installed a Stall at Sansad Marg ( near Sansad Bhawan and opposite Transport Bhawan) along with ‘Sant Gadge Maharaj Charitable Society , Delhi’. Besides, DEWA always helped (with in its capacity) in the past (will help in future) for the arrangements of Rally/Aandolan at Delhi/NCR-Delhi (by our various Community’s Associations/Sanstha in the Country) viz., for inclusion of our community in the SC Category and for other valid demands etc. Besides , DEWA Members also participate in such community’s Rallies/Andolans at Delhi (which are non- political ).
